Local Human Resources firm provides personnel for
The O2 Arena
Handover HR has been a key contributor to the opening
of The O2 Arena, previously the Millennium Dome, and in record
time.
The entire arena catering operation at the entertainment
venue was organised by the up-and-coming human resource
company – from the actual recruitment of nearly 1000
catering employees, down to the training needs and uniforms
for all the personnel.
Kirstie Loveridge, Director at Handover HR, who has been
in charge of the project explained: “It has been an
intense but extremely satisfying project to work on. We
were brought on board by Levy Restaurants, the chosen caterer
for the venue and part of the sport, leisure and hospitality
sector of Compass Group, in March 2007 and had two months
to get everything together for the opening night event.
It was an incredibly busy couple of months and with all
the amazing concerts currently going on, it’s still
very busy!”
Handover HR started from scratch at the arena, first putting
in place an on-site management team and then recruiting
650 further staff, who work at the arena up to five nights
a week for concerts and events.
Kirstie explained: “We have recruited all the catering
staff for the 02, from advertising the opportunities, conducting
interviews and arranging training.
The staff contracts, uniforms and salaries are all organised
by us and so we basically act, as with other clients, as
the outsourced Human Resources Department for Catering at
the O2.”
Andy Hardy, Operations Director for Compass Group, commented:
“Kirstie and her team have been instrumental in the
launch and ongoing success of the O2 arena. Our business
involves serving a tremendous number of visitors within
short bursts of time, so having a professional and well-trained
catering team on board has been essential. Our partnership
with Handover HR has been highly successful and we look
forward to continuing our work with them in the future.”
The hard-working company is now committed to working with
Levy Restaurants at the O2 for the foreseeable future and
to continue the high standards and efficiency that the O2
demands.
